From b9077ef7ab70f8e8ee9c4dba7d87d61c86cb96d6 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Willem Date: Fri, 30 Oct 2026 12:29:22 +0100 Subject: [PATCH 1/2] Pay with a saved card: approved with Touch ID, within limits, typed only on the shop's page Cards are kept in the secret store (the Mac's Keychain); the AI sees a label and the last 4 digits. A purchase: purchase_request on the checkout page (the page as the browser's own tab list reports it), limits checked (per purchase, per local day, currency, sites), a card that only Touch ID in the Mac app can approve (approval_decide refuses to; host decide, chat buttons, Always, plans, Don't ask me first and routines can't), limits checked again with the day's total in one transaction. Approved, a 10-minute grant for that bot in that chat: only then does its browser get the card (restarting to take it in and drop it), each detail typed once with browser_type/fill_form into a main-page field (no frames) on that site; the browser can't leave the site, and leaving ends the grant and withholds the result. Results are scrubbed (the number in any grouping, values in and under fields); a card marker anywhere but the field it was typed into, on that page, withholds the result. No screenshots (browser or the bots' computer) for half an hour after typing and until the shop's tabs are closed (verified). Lookalike and foreign-alphabet sites are flagged. Every purchase is logged (purchases table, schema v18). Hardened over four rounds of adversarial review. Closes #415. The card's +details are stored in the Mac's Keychain only; bots see a label and the last 4 digits. Each card has a most per purchase +and per day (your local day), a currency, and optionally the only sites it may be used on. + +How a purchase goes, and what stops it going wrong: + +- **It asks, and only Touch ID says yes.** On the checkout page, the bot calls `purchase_request` with the card, the total + and what it's for. The card shows the amount, the card, the site and page (as the browser itself reports them, not + the page's text), and warns when the address looks like another site or uses letters from another alphabet. Only + **Approve with Touch ID** in the Mac app approves it (or your Mac's password without Touch ID): not a chat app's + buttons, the web app, Always, a plan, "Don't ask me first" or a routine. Limits are checked when it asks and again, + with the day's total, when you approve. +- **The browser only has the card for 10 minutes, in that chat.** Until you approve, no browser has the card's details + at all (so a page can't probe for them). After, that bot's browser in that chat gets them: each detail typed once, + only into a field of the shop's own page (not a frame inside it), only on that site; the browser can't go to another + site, and leaving it ends the payment. Card details are scrubbed from everything the browser returns, also as a + form formats them, and a page showing them is held back. +- **No pictures of it.** For half an hour after typing, and until the shop's tabs are closed, no screenshots (browser or + the bots' computer). +- **Everything is logged** under Settings → Browser → Cards to pay with → Purchases. + +Limits: the amounts are what the bot asked to pay, not what the shop charges, so use a virtual card or one with a low +limit set by your bank. Any field on the approved site can take the card, so approve only shops you trust. Checkouts +that take the card inside a payment provider's box (Stripe, Adyen) aren't supported yet: the bot hands those to you.
